Artist Bio

Ana has worked in many mediums, although for the last year and a half she has focused primarily on clay. “There are so many different directions you can go in clay . . .pottery wheel, slab building, sculpting, molds, and pinch pots to name a few. Additionally, the glazing process is an art in and of itself, varying from a basic color choice to creating a complex glaze formula. Finally, the outcome is highly affected by the numerous firing techniques available. I’ve seen some truly amazing and stunningly beautiful creations in pottery. I aspire towards those creations. I hope maybe one day I will be so lucky as I am captivated by this medium.” 

Born and raised in Corsicana, Texas, Ana moved to Austin in the early ‘70s to attend the University of Texas. In 1977, she received her bachelor's degree in Business Statistics. Ana fell in love with Austin during those ‘good ole days’ and has been a resident here for 47 years. Ana also enjoys working in pastels, acrylics, mosaics, and fabric sewing creations. When she can find the time, Ana sings and plays the guitar.
