Looking Back at 2022!
Serving One Another
For over 26 years, Imagine Art has been dedicated to serving a unique group of individuals, artists with disabilities. Since 2016, Imagine Art has expanded its service target to reach non-artists and artists with disabilities. Here are just a few ways in which Imagine Art has served this community in 2022.
Over 60 artists are working in the art studio, where they are accessing free materials and equipment. These artists benefit from workshops, classes and 1:1 mentoring support to develop cohesive bodies of work for both exhibition and micro-business.
Over 10 artists received training and opportunity to serve as Artists in Residents (through Art-A-Gogh-Go) to create a public mural for Foundation Community!
Over 15 different exhibitions, special events and pop up markets provided opportunity for artists to sell their works!
20 individuals with disabilities received residential supports that empowered them to live in the community - 9 individuals are living in 3 Supported Living Houses and 11 individuals are living in Adult Foster Host Homes.
60 individuals are receiving personalized long term care services that include community based nursing, dietary, behavioral, occupational, physical, and speech therapy.
Over 40 individuals benefitted from Training 4 Transformation peer support groups.
Receiving the Land.
All the while, Imagine Art has been steadfast in moving towards the promise of our forever home - 1127 Tillery Street. The vision was planted in 2017 and FIVE YEARS later we are witnessing the reality of our dreams coming true. In 2022, Imagine Art received $15 million dollars from Austin Housing Finance Corporation for the development of Live+Make - a 66 unit, deeply affordable housing complex that is nestled on a pecan grove in East Austin. Our Tx Dept of Housing and Community Affairs 4% Tax Credit process is crossing the finish line and we have scheduled our finance closing date for Jan 12th, 2023. Plans and permits are in hand and we are getting the scissors out - ready to cut the ribbon at the ground breaking ceremony - TBA for Feb 2023.
