City of Austin Economic Development

The City of Austin Economic Development Department provides Cultural Arts funding through the HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax) funds that empower Imagine Art to operate the free, public art studio that serves 85 artists with and without disabilities to access public art space, professional materials and support from artistic directors.  Funding supports the salary of the Artistic Directors.

In addition, the city granted funds towards (9) individual sponsored projects, of which 90% is spent on direct programming such as music and art workshops, performances and exhibitions.

In addition, Imagine Art has received multiple years funding for Creative Space Assistance Program, helping to offset facility space costs. In 2020-21, the city of Austin’s Joint Music and Arts Commission provides $45,500 in funds dedicated for emergency relief for creative space.
