Professional Development & Training

Professional development of our AmeriCorps members is critical to their having a transformational experience during their service year. If you find a need for professional development or training, visit with the AmeriCorps Program Director at Imagine Art to see how we can meet your needs.

Imagine Art provides the following professional development and training opportunities/experiences during the Service Year:


Art Making

  • Any of your peers or the Imagine Arts artist possess will be more than happy to share their art making skills.

    A wise fortune cookie once revealed: “One learns most from teaching others.”

Communication with Individuals with Sensory Impairments

American Sign Language

AmeriCorps member/deaf artist, Larry Yanez, is a resource for American Sign Language.

Molly Hale, one of our Imagine Art artists, leads the Imagine Art Community in her Weekly ASL Club meetings through Google Meets on Fridays from 11:15 am - 12:30 pm. Register to join the club! You will be added to the mailing list and will receive updates and meeting links.

Tactile Sign Language

Tactile Sign Language (Deaf-Blind)
Guidance has been developed to assist with communicating with Larin Harp, one of our most prolific Imagine Art artists who is deaf-blind. The “Glazing with Larin” resource was created by one of our AmeriCorps alumni, Tiara Kinnebrew.


Health and Safety and Special Needs

CPR
First Aid

Basic First Aid and CPR courses are offered through the Relias - Integral Care. Members will be required to attend during the onboarding period.

 

Online Special Needs Training is offered through the Relias - Integral Care. Topics include: Trauma-Informed Care, Ethics and Corporate Compliance, HIPAA: Privacy Rule, Infection Control: Basic Concepts, Supporting Client Rights for Paraprofessionals in Behavioral Health, and Care for Culture for Network Provider.

In Person Special Needs Training is offered through the Relias - Integral Care. Topics include: De-escalation and Physical Safety and Holds and Restraints.

Members will be required to complete trainings during the onboarding period.


Job Search Academy

Indeed’s The Job Search Academy is a free virtual program created to help you excel in your job search. The program focuses on mastering the 5 key areas of the job search so you feel confident every step of the way–because everyone deserves better work. 


Studio Equipment

Kiln
  • Training on discipline based skills, including, but not limited to, how to stretch a canvas, prepare canvases, framing artwork, photographing artwork, inventorying artwork, etc.

  • Training for use of the kiln and handing ceramics from formation to firing


Use of Technology

Imagine Art Training

  • Training on how to enter data into the different systems required for documentation (e.g. Performance Measures, Service Delivery Logs, OnCorps Time Reports, Procurement Log, etc.)

  • Training on how to maintain web pages on the Imagine Art website

  • Training on how to post on Imagine Art’s social media platforms
